Well, you helped me realize I am not the only one who gets a little crazed sometime. This time only a little bit of butter and sugar were sacrificed.

hope everything is ok with your knee. they are delicious and definitely worth remaking-better luck next time.

Oh, you poor thing! If it’s any consolation, they look great! You could’ve played it off and pretended they tasted amazing. πŸ˜‰ I hope your knee gets better soon.

Sihan said in May 20th, 2008 at 9:26 am

try again yar. mine were pretty nice tasting as compared the foul and nasty you used to describe yours. must be the evil baking soda…

Christina said in May 20th, 2008 at 9:44 am

Oh no, what a rotten week. I’m sorry your Madelines came out bad and even sorrier that pooch was in the bed with a dirty butt.

I’m sad they didn’t turn out for you! One time I made baking powder biscuits with baking soda. What? How could I get that wrong??? They were so awful.

Anyway, hope they turn out better next time. I can’t wait for next week! Great choice, by the way!

Take it easy MC, so your knee can heal up and you can enjoy your trip. We know that you’re a good baker so don’t worry! πŸ˜‰ I would have never known that they weren’t tasty, if you hadn’t said anything.

I am not alone with these feets! Good luck with your knees!

Oh no, it’s too bad to hear that these ended up blah from the soda. Hopefully everything starts going better for you soon.

That sounds like something I would do! Have you tried the aluminum free baking soda?

mygif
Melissa said in May 20th, 2008 at 1:52 pm

LOL at the baking soda…totally something I would do!

mygif
Marie said in May 20th, 2008 at 2:42 pm

They actually look pretty good to me and the edges look nice and buttery and crispy. Wouldn’t have known any different had you not said so! My hands sometimes get ahead of my brain as well!

mygif
Christine said in May 20th, 2008 at 2:47 pm

Putting baking soda instead of baking powder is what I would do! I am glad I am not the only one to do something like that! I can’t wait to try next week’s TWD excellent choice! I think your Madeleines look good!

No matter this week – all your other goodies I’ve seen have been fabulous. And … if I lived closer I’d take care of your little ones in a minute (my Cocker Spaniel might be a tad jealous though) as they’re precious. Recoup and enjoy that coming trip!

I love your blog name and header. You will have to make another attempt, they are good!

Not the poopy butt! Sounds like you need an exorcism over there, stat. πŸ˜‰

Dianne said in May 20th, 2008 at 4:24 pm

I’ve misread recipes before and it’s always so disheartening. They look good though!

mygif
Claudia said in May 20th, 2008 at 4:32 pm

Hope your knees are better. Even if your Madeleines don’t look like they should – I would have liked the taste of eggs. I think that’s what they should taste like.

CB said in May 20th, 2008 at 5:28 pm

oh you poor thing! I’ve done the soda-powder switcheroo too. It totally sucks when you figure it out. Sorry to hear about Gus’ poopy butt. Thats not fun…

Well done for having a go anyway – I hope next week is a lot better for you and your lovely little doggy. Many Apolgies, I will have to bail out of your next week’s challenge but promise to make this recipe once things have calmed down around here. Hx

That sounds like something I’d do! I always double check baking soda and baking powder! Too bad about their taste though, they look kind of like lace cookies, very lovely.

Aw. πŸ™ I hope things look up for you soon.

Dolores said in May 20th, 2008 at 10:20 pm

Oooh… I’ve made the “soda rather than powder” mistake myself, with equally disastrous results. So sorry it happened to you with this recipe. Hope your knee heals soon!

Michelle from Baken said in May 20th, 2008 at 10:48 pm

Oh no!

Double OH NO in regards to your dog on your bed πŸ™‚

I can’t wait to try the pecan sticky buns, great choice.

mygif
Di said in May 20th, 2008 at 11:37 pm

I hope everything is going better soon. I’ve made that mistake and quite a few others over time. Nowadays most of mine are due to “mommy brain” caused by lack of sleep or kiddos trying to be helpful.

Oh no! I hope that things start looking up for you soon!

Oh, that’s too bad! I hope your knee feels better soon. Try them again when you feel up to it! I found them very addictive.
