This week, Claudia of Fool for Food chose Chocolate Chunkers, and you can find the recipe for them on her blog, or in Dorie’s book.
I blogged about these cookies earlier this year, and to date, they are my favorite Dorie cookie. Cookies are not high on my list of things to eat or bake (weird, I know), so when a cookie makes my repeat list, that’s really saying something. And while other Dorie cookie recipes have been well-received by friends and co-workers, I just don’t see myself making them again. Except for these.
I didn’t bake them this weekend because I stepped on the scale and screamed. Since I have a plum cake and creme brulee coming up later this month, my thighs told me they needed a break. I concur. I’m also hoarding the pound-plus of chocolate that is needed for these cookies because Christmas baking is looming. To see what other fabulous cookies others have made, be sure to check out the TWD blogroll.

Screaming thighs, oh I hear you…..wait, I can’t hear you over my own screaming thighs. Must. Take. Up. Running.

I agree….these were make again, and again, and again!
I don’t bother stepping on the scale anymore. I just walk an extra time around the block.
thinking about it. These would make great christmas cookies. All wrapped up in an assorted box of handbaked cookies. fantabulous idea. I love the cookies too!
I’m the same way, there are only a couple of repeat cookie recipes that I have. Co-workers and family members always help, huh?
I was happy to find that you made these a while ago. I’m not in my kitchen, and I was able to make the cookies from the recipe in your previous post. Wonderful looking cookies!
Thanks for your comment on my blog. I also loved these cookies and have to agree with you: these will be made over and over!!
I too have been screaming at the scale lately and baking these did not help. I agree that these were the best Dorie cookies baked so far!
Wow, Madam Chow! Your cookies look sensational! And yes, these are the best cookies ever!
Lucky you that you already made these! These are by far, my favorite cookies too! I hate Dorie (but really secretly love her) and I hate my scale!
For these cookies alone I would never get on a scale again. fantasmical.
It’s all about pacing oneself, isn’t it? Saving it up for the fabulous treats to come! I agree, these cookies are great – my second favorite of Dorie’s (after the World Peace cookies).
Again… another one! How do you guys get the white chocolate to show and stay firm enough to pop out that way? Hmmmm… one of (my) life mystery! LOL
Great job, great chunkers!
I agree these are my favorite cookies to date! They are awesome!
Sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the scale gods, don’t they? At least you were able to make these earlier and liked them!
Glad you liked these so much! They look really delicious.
Definitely worthy of a repeat someday, I agree. For now, I’m just wondering how we’re going to stuff in all the creme brulee and cake before month’s end.
Gosh…I don’t think my thumb is quick enough to click the clicky on a stopwatch to time how quickly those would disappear…

I love all those chunks!
I love being a part of TWD, but I must admit that I have really added some extra pounds with the extra baking! The cookies look great and I think these will be making an appearance around the holidays.
